My husband and son went on a shark charter with Captain Alex and had an amazing experience! They caught a blacktip shark within 5 minutes of casting. Captain Alex was patient, knowledgeable, and worked so well with our autistic son, which meant so much to our family. We also really appreciated the Bible verses on the boat — it made the trip feel even more welcoming and comfortable. Highly recommend and we would absolutely book with him again!

Captain Alex was the BEST! He took us out and was able to find so many great spots to pull up lots of fish! We were able to keep those that were in season - he even filet’s the fish and provides bait. He was so helpful and encouraging - highly recommend ! Very professional! Had an amazing time!

First off, my wife and 2 kids are from Nevada. We don’t know the first thing about fishing, let alone deep sea Gulf fishing. So some of us were feeling anxious about our trip. But Capt. Alex Short was not only educated in this craft but had years of experience and friendly/ patient personality to make us all feel like seasoned pros. He knew the spots to take us, knew how to read the water for baiting and using radar found the fish that were in season for us to not only catch but keep. We did a 6 hour trip which was long enough to help us make our limit so we could feed the family for the week. It was great, beautiful day, very memorable for the teens and wife and I although sore from our fishing efforts won’t forget this or the fresh tasty fish. I highly recommend Capt. Alex and his company Life’s 2 Short for your family especially if you are on the fence.

Today we had the absolute pleasure of going fishing with Captain Alex from Life’s 2 Short Fishing Charters, and I truly can’t recommend him enough.
First off—Alex was AWESOME. He’s down-to-earth, friendly, charismatic, and kept us entertained the entire trip. But beyond that, he really knows what he’s doing. He knew exactly where to take us so we could actually catch fish—and catch fish we did!
We’re in Destin on a family vacation that also doubled as a surprise Christmas trip for our kids. None of us had ever done ocean fishing before, so we were complete newbies. Alex was incredibly patient and took the time to explain every step of the process in a way that made it easy, comfortable, and fun for all of us.
He was fantastic with our family—very family-friendly, wholesome, and real. Not a salty, crusty old captain at all. Just a genuinely great guy who clearly loves what he does.
We ended up catching over 40 fish! At times Alex had his hands full with all of us reeling fish in and needing help, but he stayed on top of everything, hustling nonstop (he definitely got his steps in that day!).
If you’re looking for a fun, wholesome, well-guided fishing charter with great vibes and even better results, Captain Alex is your guy. We would absolutely book with him again in a heartbeat.

Me and my Husband took a 6 hour trip with Alex and it was absolutely AMAZING! The weather was beautiful, we caught lots of fish and had so much fun! Will 100% be coming back to Destin and taking a trip with him again!

Hands down one of the most incredible experiences of my life! Captain Alex was not only a genuine down to earth person, but he made our experience so memorable and a blast from start to finish! He got us on fish and kept us on fish! We HIGHLY recommend the 6hr tour! We’re Beyond thankful for the experience we had! We will for sure come back and it’ll for sure be with Captain Alex!
